واقعہ حرّہ، تاریخ کا ایک سیاہ ورق

Abstract
In this article, a historical analysis of what is known as the ‘incident of Hirrah’ has been presented. This incident is one of the most tragic incidents of the history of mankind, occurred in 63 AH during the reign of Yazid b. Muawiyah. When the people of Medina came to know about the sinful character of Yazid, they rose in rebellion against him. When the news of the outbreak of the uprising reached to the ears of Yazid, he, at first, tried to suppress it by some of his close associates. When Yazid realized that the people of Madena were not ready to accept his caliphate, he dispatched an army under the headship of Muslim b. Uqbah to bow them before him by the might of sword. When the Syrian army arrived in Madena, it succeeded crossing the trench with the assistance of Bani Haritha. The Syrian army, took massacred the Madinites indiscriminately. The soldiers of the Syrian army killed many companions of the Prophet, dishonored Muslim women. The brutality of the Syrian army lasted for three days after which Madinites found no option other then submission.
