Abstract
Man is in need of social relations in his life. The social institution man, as a social being, is in need of after his existence is called ‘family’. And, the ways of living in this institution is referred to as the ‘system of family life’. Husband and wife form the basic unit of family life because it is through their marital relations that give birth to life. Man is in need of an ideal guide in his family life in the same way as he is in other aspects of life. It is this reason that Islam has set down rules and principles as well as rights and duties of the members of this institution. Islam has, moreover, presented the House of the Prophet as a practical model for human beings in this regard as well. Sayyida Fatimah is the center of the Family of the Prophet. The Prophet has called her ‘the leader of the women of the world’. In her short life, hazrat Fatimah – as a daughter, wife and mother - has offered an excellent model for all the women of the world. In this paper, an attempt has been made to highlight the sirah of hazrat Fatimah as a model in the light of the Quran, tradition, and history.
