Abstract
The socio-political approach of Imam Khomeini is based upon Quran and the sirah (way of life) of the Ahl al-Bait. There is no doubt that women, along with men, also participated in the triumph of the Islamic Revolution. Imam Khomeini has given a special importance to the role of women in the Islamic Revolution, and has presented Hazrat Fatimah as a role model to the women. His views, written and spoken, regarding the status of hazrat Fatimah have been compiled in this paper, albeit briefly. For him, of the all names of Lady Fatimah, ‘muhadditha’ is of a great significance which reveal her spiritual status. The second characteristic of the Holy Lady lies in the simplicity of her life. The sermons and saying of Hazrat Fatimah reveal the fact that she actively participated in the social and collective issues of the society. The ‘sahifa-ye Fatimah (the Book of Fatimah) is also a source of pride for Imam Khomeini. Ahl al-Bait, along with the Quran, are that spiritual asset, regarding which sensitivity is symbol of faith. Desecration of Fatimah is the desecration of Islam, and to react against it is the quality of ulama like Imam Khomeini. Imam Khomeini has declared the birthday of hazrat Fatimah the ‘women’s day’ which has been celebrated for last 40 years.
